It Starts with me
A free youth dialogues event happening on Saturday, July 14th from 10am until 5pm at the Vancouver Puplic Library, focused on using active witnessing to stop
discrimination.
The Event
We have a full day planned for all participants! There will be workshops in the morning and a dialogue in the afternoon, all with the goal of overcoming our biases about discrimination, hate crimes, the Bystander effect, fear, social media and mob mentality, a free lunch, a guest speaker, dialogue sessions and a flash mob!
Workshops
The morning of It Starts With Me is work-shop based, with 4 options to choose from. Topics will cover discrimination through a variety of lenses, including through art, theatre, social media and hate crimes. In all workshops, active witnessing will be looked at in-depthly and interactive activities will be included.

Mission Statement
Our goal is to inspire and encourage social change through revolutionizing the way youth think about discrimination. We want to target society’s lack of awareness through educating our future generation on discrimination caused by culture, media, stereotypes, and fear. Through dialogue, we want to change tolerance into acceptance.
